The Dead Letter Art [DLa] Collective is a network of underground artists exploring creativity through collaborative and individual artistic expression. DLa possesses a diverse arsenal of artistic skills, encompassing both digital and analogic realms: everything from drawing and painting to audio and video to photography and sculpture. Quarterly (or whatever), the collective publishes Dead Letter Art magazine, which is designed to unite and inspire artists, share and chronicle dla art, and serve as an art form in and of itself.
The DLa collective began in 1989, when a group of highly creative teenagers, sharing an "advanced" art class, started an informal art club jokingly referred to as the "Dead Letter Art Society." Friendship and art prospered as the group of moses lake artists practiced their art, developed their knowledge, and sharpened their skills. Today, Dead Letter Art works exclusively with F-Disk Media, exploring new levels of international creativity and success.
We do art because we are inspired to do art. We are creative people who love to express ideas and explore new artistic experiences. And we love to share the art that we create. The annual magazine that we publish is our way of communicating our ideas and art to the public. Our audience is you, the attentive patron of subtle nuance, esoteric knowledge, and commercial-free inspiration. And, our inspiration involves you, our audience. We love to hear from you, about art, philosophy, or small animals.
As digital operators and online collaborators, Dead Letter Art exists worldwide. Dead Letter artwork has been created in many different parts of the world, including England, Madrid, Germany, Japan, and the United States. As desktop publishers, DLa is a transient organization that strives to unite and showcase both local and global artists. Currently, the DL artists reside in the Great Northwest, in the lush states of Washington and Oregon, with offices in Seattle, Portland, and even Moses Lake.
The Dead Letter Art Collective consists of core members, associates, and subscribers.
*Subscriptions to Dead Letter Art magazine are free. to receive an annual subscription, simply send an email with your name and mailing address.
DLa is a non-profit, ad-free art collective. DLa publications and projects are non-commercially funded by individual members, collaborators, and contributors. We do not accept paid advertising. We will publish advertisements, however, provided they pass our rigorous screening requirements: created as artistic expression, for parodic purposes, or to represent a relevant resource. And, do not even think about submitting such an "ad" unless you have a subscription.
All proceeds derived from projects and/or other business transactions serve to reimburse operating expenses only. [We’ll make our fortunes slaving away for the rest of our lives at some factory or restaurant somewhere.] Thus, all contributions (money, supplies, software, stamps, etc.) are always welcome, even encouraged, and will be used only for taking care of our humble, non-profit business.
