News from Wednesday, July 28, 2004 @ 8:12 AM, PSTHeh, you did pretty well, I actually did the top left, bottom left, bottom right, and finished up the top middle one from a sketch the guy did. had to base the style on the top right and bottom middle one of the other guy. Apparently I didn’t hit it perfectly, cause most people can figure out most of which ones I did.
Yes, the stamp paper isn’t stampy enough. It is slightly yellowed on the gum side, but there is no gloss, so it almost looks like a duotone paper. Also too thin. Sucks in my opinion. Maybe the one from paper plus is more realistic. I will continue to search for the perfect paper. Until then, I may have to make my own (I did this on those self promotion stamps, they turned out quite cool, but it was a tedious process, and I am not sure how long the “lickability will last” I haven’t tested the leftovers yet, maybe I will do that today.
You guys will have to come up and see some of the processes I have developed for making design stuff. Everybody was jealous in school. HA. you will get the idea when DLA 20 reaches your door. I just got a shipment of supplies in yesterday that I was waiting for to finish it up. hopefully it will be done soon. I will keep you guys updated. the stamp stuff is part of it, I decided to add some more extras.
It would be cool to do some more extreme projects for DLA. One idea would be a complete hard edition. Only with things made specifically for the edition, planned from scratch, no rehash or filler. make a limited edition of 25 or 50 copies. Maybe the celtic manuscript edition or something. I also have access to a letterpress shop, where I can print my own stuff at no cost, (other than ink and plates where needed) so that might be a cool project too. Take 6 months to a year to make a complete letterpress edition with lead typesetting and linolium cut blocks which we could each carve ourselves. We could then print hundreds for pennies.
Anyways, August is get a job month, so I will keep you updated on that front too. Let me know if you are coming this way anytime soon.
