News from Saturday, July 17, 2004 @ 7:10 PM, PSTi think we should start hosting with whomever you’d prefer. mediatemple is fine with me. no matter who we choose we will have problems and benefits - the worst case scenario would be to end up with somebody like we had w/ the DLa site (xoasis), and even then, we are proficient enuf to resolve things and move someplace else. anyhow - we should start hosting immediately, and begin working on our ‘personal’ sites. this will get us back up to speed and thinking webstuff so that the process on the main & subsidiary sites will be more efficient and smooth. it also allows some website manipulations in general and idea exchange, and perhaps a chance to explore some of the cgi or scripting possibilities of our new host!

what other domain names are we going to buy? fdisk? porkmeds? stopmachine? they are pretty cheap to purchase (like payless shoesource shoes..) but how many do we need? we have a zillion (or 100+/-) subdomains we can use too, for free. what are the cost/benefit ratios for these new names?

we went to the art museum today. kick-ax’! i got a membership there, and i have a couple of free passes for friends. if you like, we can go check it out sometime, or i can give you a couple passes to take the fam with. worth a look, to be sure.

i think i have finally found a better web host… way better than those clowns at media turd (mt). after some serious research, i found a sweet lil’ deal — geekhosting.com has a better plan at a better price: allow me to break it on down, if you will:

2 domain names + 10 subdomains
250 MB storage + 10 GB / month transfer
100 email accounts + the usual CGI/PHP/MySQl biz..
all for ~$10 / month with 2 year contract = ~$240 biznux
_geekhosting (gh) steal (!)
10 domain names + unlimited subdomains & parked domains
300 MB storage + 10 GB / month transfer
unlimited email accounts (yeah, right) + the usual CGI/PHP/MySQl biz..
all for ~$5 / month billed annually = ~$60 straight up
So we’re in — I signed on after reading your “pick a host” email pep-talk. The account should be active in 24 hours, but it also takes 24 - 72 hours for DNS addresses to switch over, once they have been reset to the new DNS. So, for game pran: why don’t you change the DNS address for the main domain, stopdigital.com (see DNS addresses below), while I reset fdiskmedia.com, deadletterart.com (liberation!), and…
..and that brings us to plenty more business to discuss: what is our online plan for domain names? which to buy? are you going to throw down on a fresh domain name? they are inexpensive, and sweet to have and to hold. did you know that thanechampie.com awaits?
anyway, the plan so far (so far as i know) is to use at least the following domains:

hmm..
i will check into the domain xfer tomorrow for the stopdigital. havent really considered any additional domains, but will give it some thought. thanhvi.com? we can get fdiskmedia domain too. i think we should nab them as needed or when we are ready to take them on though - i just wanted to get started and get warmed up.
i will check out the xfer in the morning…

like i said before, i already purchased fdiskmedia.com, and it has been setup to serve from (gh) servers (after 72 hours). the same has been done for deadletterart.com, dlamembers.com, and perishableonline.com. don’t panic. nothing is set in stone. we will still discuss final plans. but, until then, i am transferring my business from r4less to (gh).
