DLa #021 After the intense focus on business throughout production of the DLa Tri-Annual Report, we were ready to dive back into the refreshing pool of artistic creativity. Recent expeditions into drawing, digital collage, and photography had provided the collective with a wealth of mixed media content. Fortunately, Bleeding Heart developed a "Mixology" theme, which would unify our diverse collection of mixed-media work into a bartender's mixed-drink handbook. The idea was a hit — customized pages mixed art and drink recipes without a hitch. Chunks of graphics taken from BHBW's custom arsenal of alcohol-related propaganda served to embellish the issue with that extra-special glow of authenticity. And, to emphasize the creative exuberance bubbling about the content, twenty pages were printed in full color. Indeed, the Mixology Issue presents a complete menu of mixed-media artistic expression — comics, drawings, sketches, paintings, collages, photographs, and even well-written articles. If you missed this issue of DLa, you may have missed the best yet..
In addition to a well-rounded beverage selection, the DLa Mixology Issue serves up all the standard DLa features, including art{space}, Small Talk, Il Commentator, Turdz from the Cave, and even a dueling Werdz Page. The issue also featured special guest artist Gabriel Vrooman, and witnessed the long-awaited completion of the DLa Tarot Card Set with ThaneC's The Fool tarot and Nimbus' The World tarot. Eventually, DLa plans to actually print and distribute the complete deck.
Of course, the main thrust of every DLa issue is to share the unique artwork of the DLa collective. In this issue, several prominent DLa artists express themselves through diverse media. Here, we highlight the contributions of Bleeding Heart, ThaneC, Perishable, and Osseus. Please to enjoy these fine selections.
To punctuate the event, enjoy this collaborative, mixed-media collage by Kalacakra and Perishable, Panic of da Apes.
