DLa #20.50 Shortly after the success of the DLa "Fair" Issue, the eastside collective reflected on the history of DLa and decided to produce an official Dead Letter Art business report. With a forecasted release date coinciding with the official three-year anniversary of the organization, the DLa Tri-Annual Business Report [TBR] underwent extensive planning, research, and preparation. Immediately after conception, data was mined from existing records, receipts, notes, and sketches. Eventually, after many hours of organizing data and crunching numbers, a preliminary report emerged. This preliminary report was then refined, pimped, and prepared to serve as a comprehensive analysis of DLa's first three years. Indeed, the completeness of the data is rivaled only by the luxuriousness of its presentation. With its custom vellum overlays, transparent film cover, lightweight European paper, and electrostatic polymer packaging, the styling of this remarkable set of data is lush and extravagant.
Within the issue, business partners and friends of DLa discover a plethora of information, with the myriad aspects of DLa each presented with copious detail within clear, concise layouts. Corporate architecture, product summaries, issue statistics, and member profiles are among the many important aspects of the Dead Letter Art organization that are thoroughly analyzed and reported in this issue.
The production of the DLa Tri_Annual Business Report — obtaining materials, processing data, developing layout, issue publication, and many business meetings over coffee — remains a rewarding part of the 20.50 experience. Indeed, in many ways, the production process outweighs even the satisfaction of digging into the finished product..
Perhaps the "fanciest" element of the DLa Biz Ish is the variety of custom vellum overlays featured throughout the report. The function of these overlays serves to provide a secondary layer of information for their underlying pages. Thus, the timeline summary page, say, consists of a timeline, photographs, and symbols, while its corresponding vellum overlay adds the vital textual information. Taken together, the dual pages provide an extra level of data presentation, thereby fostering clarity through their dichotomized structure. Hopefully, the following set of images will elucidate the description provided here..
