all those issues

DLa News News from Monday, July 28, 2003 @ 12:35 AM, PST

Here is the rat on issues/printing/etc.::>

>>> Machine Issue (016) is fat all over, even pagewise — it will be the most expensive (i.e., closer to $1.25/each) to print.

>>> Collab Issue (017) is a few pages less, but still more than a buck/each. This issue could be printed easily with no cutting whatsoever — it would have an oversized top/bottom margin — but would still be tuff.

>>> Parcel Issue (018) would be the most cost-effective, as it is a slimmer issue.

What do yuse guys think?

I think it would be cool to have some different issues to offer, according to each zine-sters apparent tastes.

Only the best! Right?

i think the collab issue is more in taste with other zines at the convention - much more hand-done than computerized, that is. but cost is more important. perhaps print about 10 of the collab issue, and 20 of the slim-jim parcel-post tissue-issue? or 5-6 of the collab, and 15 of the slim?

(20 issues might be enuf to trade with.. we can always pay a buck for zines there if we run out of trades…)

((most of the zines there are about a $1-$2, which is another reason not to pay a lot for printing))

I researched our account information:

to accomplish this, it was necessary to change the online password, which is now "[removed]", used with any valid ss number.

Here is our financial situation:

Current balance (as of today): $ 48.38 But the good news is that, as I went thru the account stuff, I found the $60 buckxs that was thrown down for DLa 18 business. So I am mailing that out tomorrow, and within a week or so, the balance will be $ 48.38 + $ 60.00 = $ 108.38. And, it gets better: even if we only pitch in another $ 60.00 biznukxs, Dead Letter aRT will boast an account balance of $ 168.38 !! - We’re liquid, baby!

So, here is the proposed economic agenda:

DLa nineteen @ 11 pp x 0.15 cents/page = $ 1.65 >> if we print 50 solid gold issues at this price, we’re looking at $ 82.50 plus tax = ~$90.00 total. Thus, $ 168.38 - $ 90.00 = $ 78.38 leftover, which is more than we thought we had going into this issue.

Then, for reprints for the zinconv:

  • - We could print 5 Machina issues @ 10 pp x 0.15 cents/page = $ 1.50 x 5 = $ 7.50
  • - And then print 10 Collabadabra issues @ 10 pp x 0.15 cents/page = $ 1.50 x 10 = $ 15.00
  • - And then stuff our bags with 15 slims @ 6 pp x 0.15 cents/page = $0.90 x 15 = $ 13.50
  • - So, total cost for reprints: $ 36.00 plus tax < 40 biznuckxs sweet.

Thus, upon completion of all relavant business, our account balance would break down as follows: (given timely deposits, etc..)::

  • + $ 168.38 max balance >>
  • - $ 90.00 for nineteen >>
  • - $ 40.00 for reprintz >>
  • = $ 38.38, which is a fine number to get us thru to the next round of glory…

If this plan is approved (by you guys), I will burn a cd tonite for drop-off tomorrow — that gives chowder three days to finish the all-b&w jobza. Let me know asap, to get it all rolling…

Business, Gentlemen
