DLa #016
After spending another hot summer in the Desert Oasis, it was once again time to assess our creative output, plan new projects, and prepare for the next issue of Dead Letter Art. Our last issue, DLa 15/F-Disk IV, was thrown together during uncertain times, and wound up floundering under its own confusion. And rightly so, as DLa 15 virtually fell together during the chaotic dichotomization of the DLa organization. However, after the dust had settled, Eastside DLa began rolling along, holding meetings, making plans, and doing art. Drawing expeditions were pursued with diligence as we sought fresh material for DLa 16. With pens to paper, Eastside DLa artistically explored ancient wrecking yards, rusting railcars, and a host of other mechanical wastelands. Eventually, a mechanical theme began to emerge. Soon, our collective consumption of the mechanical realm saturated every page of DLa 16. From Nimbus' cryptic cover to ThaneC's twisted Tower Tarot card, DLa 16 is itself a machine, well-oiled and self-contained — a systematic art publication functioning like clockwork. Regular features include Il Commentator, art{space}, Small Talk, and a custom, full-color Bleeding Heart Werdz Page. DLa Comix include Crunch & Weasle, Eschelon, and Redneck Remedies. The issue also features original artwork by Freakish Carnival Utopia, Bleeding Heart, and ThaneC. The issue opens with The Machine Man, an exclusive article by Nimbus.
