News from Sunday, September 01, 2002 @ 5:46 PM, PST[Osseus] — -actually you and [Perishable] agree more than you think. he wants to have something more concrete as well, instead of just leaving it up to everybody to do their duty (so to speak). i am sure there is some middle-ground for the three of us to agree on, and i think we should work something out so we can propose something at the next meeting that we all wont argue over (too much). i dont think that anybody has a problem with sharing covers, layouts, or whatever other things a member might do.. i think we all agree that we want to keep everybody involved. the main contention is the financial status of DLA.
i think [Perishable] wants to make sure we have enuf money to do a lot of fun xtra stuff too - like the t-shirts, stickers, and what not. and his beef is that this wont happen with everybody putting in the minimum $. rather than propose ideas and collect $ from the support of the special project, i think he feels the xtra $ already built up will encourage people to submit ideas, and carry out xtra artistries. [Osseus] wants some security, without having to sell his cat to stay involved. i just want to get over this crap so we can do something more productive and creative. (and i know you do too)
my proposal is:
let’s go back to $20 per issue ($10 per month). exactly as we started - w/ a base of $60 per issue.
i think we should all agree on SOMETHING as quickly as possible and be done w/ it for now, and iron out small issues as they arise - rather than try to deal with all possibilities up front. (for example - if you cannot afford to pay per month or even per issue - let’s worry about it when it happens, and find a way to deal w/ it then).
i think if we can keep the guidelines SIMPLE and make exceptions for things as they come up, we will be able to agree more readily and move past this. i think we can tackle this in a couple of days and be done forever - LET’s DO THIS!!!

Gentlemen,
These are all great ideas. I agree with both of you. I think that since we were paying $40/issue to keep DLA growing up till now, paying $20/issue from now on is a sweet, sweet deal. If times get tuff for one (or more) of us, let us deal with it then. And, any extra monies kicked down by [Nimbus], [BHBW], or [FCU] will be for extra thrillz.
I do want [Nimbus], [BHBW], [Sui Lan], and [FCU] to enjoy the same privileges as the three of us, regardless of how much they are chipping in each month.
The only question, then, becomes, "what motivates the three of us to pitch in $20/issue on a regular basis if no one else is required to do the same while enjoying the same privileges?"
Let’s continue to werk on this as gentlemen…

ps. thank you, [Osseus], for looking into, and handling promptly, the DLa website dilemma.
