DLa #5 - July

DLa,

June was a hellish month for us here at DLa as school and work got the best of us with some icy claws. Yet, issue #4 was completed and sent out to all subscribers. on time, no less. and we hope all of us found it — if anything — worthwhile and perhaps, gasp!, inspiring. Although we are usually our own worst critics, volume four received some rather high marks indeed. inspired, then, we push onward to DLa 5.

DLa 5 is due out in time for hot July release. Layout begins 6-18, and we aim to print by the 21st. Thus the deadline for submissions is June 18th. it is important to let me know ASAP whether you plan to contribute or not. either way, please send word of your specific plans as soon as possible.

Other news. we have been planning the general themes for the next several issues. here are a few examples. July: no theme!!; August: the Moses Lake issue!!!; October: Halloween!!; etc… So, if you have any ideas or fantasies, let us know about them so we can act accordingly. as far as the ML issue goes, we are trying to get art from just about every ML artist that we can think of. that means all of us, of course, as well as (but not limited to) werk from: Bill Weech, Ben Getz, Jamison D’Hererra, Eric Groff, just to name a few. this means a FAT issue. also, we want to include names as well as tags so if you are opposed, let us know (dont be opposed). the additional artists will then rotate monthly contribution-wise. or something. this is all still in the baby phase, so who knows.

Lastly, we will soon be branching out here in seattle and will later seek other places to pimp DLa’s. art shacks, espresso joints, and comic shops all make excellent targets both here and around da werld. although this means business, we are in this for the inspiration, fellowship, and (most of all) ART. the goal for branching out is to connect and share with other tribes, artists, and chillerz. whereas the printed DLa magazine will remain for us exclusively, we aim to open the website to creations from other artists, writers, photographers, musicians, whatevah!!
