i just got all my misc biz out of the way for the evening,
and lisa is gone, so i am going to try to get some art done.

so now i am not sure if i am going to do any more work on the website, at least until i hear sup from barry..

that’s okay though because i have plenty to work on with the issue. art to finish up, graphics to pimp up, and writing to do — that reminds me, i am dropping a lil’ biz on ‘chunk collecting’, and was wondering if you had any comments on the subject. it’s like, way back in the day, we collected all sorts of interesting/inspiring snippets, and just called them ‘chunks’ because it fit.. but now, after years of collecting and thinking about and working with chunks, the practice has become more of a discipline, defined individually as well as collectively or generally.

the reason i bring it up, is that i consider you (as well as myself and gene) to have the most experience with this particular art, and so was wondering if you wouldn’t mind commenting on chunks, hunting chunks, or the purpose of chunks or whatever! your input would really help us define what collecting chunks is all about..

(also, i was thinking about showcasing an elite handful of chunk gems, so if you have any sweet turdz, spit ‘em out!)

i will give it some thot. maybe we can discuss during pre-biz or coffee session. just offhand i can comment that chunks collected correlate to the interests of the chunker – as you are drawn to complex patterns, gene to gothic, and myself to ironic/humorous chunks. aside from a general theme that the interest gravitates toward, we all collect outside of this broad categorization as well. i will give some more thought to it: briefly though, i think that other than inspiration, there is a social aspect to the process – sharing the chunk with other interested parties, and generating stimulating, creative thought. chunks tend to be very varied in appearance and rich in texture or bold in design or idea, which probably stimulates personal creative process also.

anyhow.. i will think about it and perhaps we will have time to discuss.

i am sketching a little bit, but artwise i am not being very productive. if i fail to produce anything substantial within the next two weeks, i will revert back to doing some digital art (photo collage and digital painting, combined with scanned material.) i am willing to spend some time during the week on writing, layout, or graphics if you would like a hand with anything or want to collaborate. in the meantime i will continue my labors….
