News from Saturday, February 21, 2004 @ 1:44 PMwhays the layout of the pages? the works i have are taller than they are wide, so i’m intested in page size..i have three pieces that i think would be nice, however i could have a few more if you need to fill up some space…i’m trying to get photo’s as we speak, and hopefully i’ll be able to send them to you asap. the paintings are..hmm..poster sized, and there is a massive amount detail, which troubles me a little… i also have a portrait of myself that would fit nicely with that theme you were tellin’ me about… wasn’t it like 70′s rock poster art? however, would i care to share that exercise in vanity with the general population? maybe, maybe not…well, heres the self portrait, it’s the only thing i have on disk… i wll get back to you later…

the trick is, to get at least *300_dpi* resolution when scanning or photographing. any image at that rez (or better) should turn out fine when printed (even in color). as far as size and dimension are concerned, at 300dpi rez, try to size the image(s) an inch or two larger than the size you expect them to be printed (say, 8 x 6 or so). dimension is an issue, but not a big deal, especially since the layout will be done in such a way as to optimize the largest dimension. i hope all that made sense; i would be happy to get together with you and your art to help out in any way possible, or even answer other email questions, etc… otherwise, here is a summary for submission req’s_:
if digital submission_:
_ format = .jpg / .bmp / .psd / etc..
_ resolution = at least 300 dpi (dots per inch)
_ dimension = at least expected print size (6 x 8)
_ color work for this issue will be printed in CMYK colors
_ cd submission is best : via mail or in person (will drive)
if analogue submission_:
_ format = photos / originals / color copies / slides / negatives / etc..
_ dimension = at least expected print size (6 x 8)
_ color work for this issue will be printed in CMYK colors
_ delivery : via mail or in person (will drive)
_ all original artwork will be returned asap

it would be great to press 3, 4, or 5 of your werxx.. we try to stay away from self-portraits as a rule, so if you have like three to five other color chunks i think that would be best.. i am sending out another group email discussing much of this same info. i will try to include a snippet to help everyone see what we are going after..

well, i was gonna let walmart take the photos of me art, but then they told me about the 3 week wait, and for eighty bucks you’d think they would put a hustle on it. so i’m takin the photos myself tomorrow. i’m just hopin’ they turn out. thank you for sendin me this info. it would be cool to talk to yall in person, i’ll email you tuesday. peace
