News from Wednesday, November 05, 2003 @ 5:46 PMMoney,
The Paper Zone Vellum deal fell thru. they really can’t offer what they offered.
So, I have spent many HOURS online and on the phone hunting for vellum dealz. Here is one of the best deals. It suits our needs, AND is affordable. BUT, I am not sure if “ink-jet plotting applications” is equivalent to “b&w copier” in terms of what it can do print-wise. You are the architect and the Kinko’s guy. Do you know if such will work (see below)?
<<
Description:
This 100% rag vellum is especially designed for use in monochrome ink-jet plotting applications. It provides dense lines and excellent ink receptivity and translucency. The 17 lb. is economical and durable. The 20 lb. is able to withstand extensive handling.
W73877 - 17 Lb. 100% Rag Vellum - $16.00
Quantity: 100 sheets
Size: 8.5" x 14"

If so, my searching is finally over (IF they have some in stock). If not, perhaps we could just print on all A4, or perhaps if you have some free time, you could browse the online universe for something that would benefit DLa.
Grr.

that particular paper is probably not our best choice: 100% rag (made entirely from scrap) is more fiberous and may not feed as well through a copier as through a inkjet printer. also inkjet papers are often coated, and both this and the rag may prevent a good bond with the toner.
i will look online for a few places to check out in Spokane on friday. if you know of any, or find something interesting in the spokane phone book, email the address to me. the sooner the better for the paper – but we are not in a pinch for it yet. is the deal for the ream of A4 still on? and should i pick up a spare ream while in spokane – or are we going to wait & order another if it
looks good?

there are 3 more places online that i am calling tomorrow (for vellum). i have already ordered 1 ream A4 and the statix pax. i went to order the vellum from fag zone, but they changed the deal. it turns out that their vellum works out to be about 11 cents per A4-size sheet. one cut is FREE, but any more and the knife goes in for a jack$on. so, i will call the three other online places i found and report back tomorrow night. as far as spokane goes (when are u going?), the only thing we need is A4 vellum. if you can find some that is affordable, and can front it, DLa will reimburse you. however, if you can find a lighter-weight A4 ream (~17LB), that is copier-friendly, cold grab one, and we can mix n match… as far as spokane addresses go, it would be better for you to just swing by and grab the community phone book…
what do you think about all this? (I am feeling a bit overwhelmed, to tell the truth…)

should be a piece of cake.
i will go by a couple paper suppliers in sPokane, including any architectural supply houses if they are there. do you know if there is a college over there with a bookstore? cuz at the UW bookstore they had some various vellums.. ALso, i have a pad of vellum (i think ClearprintTM brand..) and i will pull a sheet to copy onto. the pads are not real cheap though. i also emailed the guy i used to work for at Olympic Repro in Seat-Hole. hopefuLLy he will shoot me some info back about the whole vellum scene.
when can i come grab the phonebookz from your location?

tomorrow eve is good for phone bookinz (unless you will be leaving before then..). ther is a comm college in spokan, Spookin Fallz CC, I think… There is also a more technical-trade school, but i wouldnt think.. no universities IN spokane that i know of tho.. thanks for help on the vellum front. there is no more try (for me). (other than the three online potentials i mentioned previously). i think the A4 ream(z) are under control. but, again, if you see some paper-thinz, cold grabzaz.
could you email a quick copy of your new (square) DLa logo?
shoot it.
