Sorry, I was just working hard on layout and the COVER (maybe big surprize, hope you like it), and trying to get stuff done for the MAC thing, needless to say, nothing came of that, maybe next year.
I am sort of laying things out tentatively more like a book than a magazine, any thoughts on this. I thought it might be interesting, but then again, maybe you guys should have an opinion on that matter. look at a hardback novel and imagine the zine in that sort of format, but without so many blank pages in the front and back. I may change my mind though, and if you have opinions, like to hear em.
Thanks for the words, and yeah, I forgive you for the artspace thing, although it interferes with my ideal concept, probably nobody will even notice what I am trying to do anyway, so no big deal, looks cool by the way, and I like the black/white background. nice feel.
well, I will let you know how things go this week and if I am able to print some tuff covers at school. if not, theres always trusty old Kinky O’s.
You guys still working on the site? I liked what you were working on. Oh, I may have a copy of FLASH for Chris in a couple of days. Maybe I will send it along with the other materials.

San,
I like your ideas, and look forward to seeing them borne into the Dead Letter realmz…
I was wondering about the cover, but didn’t want to mention it because i didn’t want to add any additional stress. We all just assumed that you were doing the cover for it also. I am sure it will be sweet.. (any hints as to what it will be?) (c’mon!).. Do ya aht!!
I had no time for the MAC thing, and, to tell the truth, really wasn’t too motivated by the idea of sharing anything with the basin area. it sounded cool at first… but the time just wasn’t available this year…
I like the idea of presenting the issue as if it were a slimmed-down book. I can picture what you are going for, but will have to see it for myself to know whether or not it actually works. werkz. as for ideas for a book-like layout, hmmm… I think your choice of paper, fonts, and margin-size will be important in conveying your idea. Also, the cover will either make or break it — that is, it will either look like a book or it won’t. This includes the binding and/or stapling — how do you plan on handling it? are we still just going to staple it for you? of course, books are usually bound with more than just staples (but this is DLa — c’mon!)… as for actual suggestions/ideas, a couple of blank pages, or even a few pages with utterly minimal embellishments, such as werdz, info, etc, would add to the book look and feel. Another idea is to print the cover on heavier stock, leave the back-side of the cover blank, and then add a sheet between the cover and guts. the blank sheet would be equal to four zine pages, which would look sweet with, say, copyright info on one page, web/contact info on another, and nothing at all on the other two, to produce a bookie cookie as follows:
front COVER: image
inside front cover: white/blank
*page facing inside front cover: book-type info (crack one open and look..)
*other side of page facing inside front cover: blank
TOC or WERDZ
GUTZ
GUTZ
GUTZ
*other side of page facing inside back cover: blank
*page facing inside back cover: copyright info/contact info/web info inside back cover: white/blank back COVER: image (or not)
*these pages all belong to that one, lightly embellished (virtually blank) sheet, which could even be printed at home (hardly any ink usage) to save on some cost..
>>AND — your choice of FONT for these pages is critical — make it all crispy and sweet!<<
Either way, let us know about things as you go about the process of doing your issue. and let me know if i may be of any assistance…
And, if you are serious about the book paradigm, might I humbly suggest that you spend some serious meditative time (if you haven’t already) studying and contemplating some choice books… (for inspiration/ideas/etc)…
also, Thanks for the kind werdz regarding my content and the new websites. It is a relief to know that my artspace can be used in the issue.. and as for the website(s) — let’s just say that it may be awhile still — (it’s a long story…) — but, needless to say, it is only a matter of time until it is done. {{the web-shit always seems to be where the drama is… (!)}}
And, finally, I can’t tell you how much we all would benefit from you hooking ol’ ChrisP with a MAC version of Flash — we would all be very, very grateful…
Keep us in the loop,
and Best of Luck to you both
in your Artistic scholastic adventures..
(Hi, Yasuko!)
Peace.
Jeff
