at last (rong rast) – we are on the same page with the dla biz – unfortunately, it is the back cover. sad to see you took my emails this way. maybe try re-reading them..
the whole idea of dla biz taking root in ML was so you, or any one person, would not have to do it all. and it is too bad that chris, scot and ron cannot take on a little of the more tedious chores of operations so that all can enjoy. perhaps they will fill more inclined to do so as the walls collapse inward. it will never happen…
as far as the "now" goes – i could take on the finances and the website, or alternate layouts with you, if that makes any difference. i think so — say, ..you do the layout for DLA 18? hmm? s rolling, prodding with sticks, deadlines, etc.. and even then, the road is bumpy (as the continued problems with the website server will attest). it is time to make things simple..
i would, despite what may happen, like to come up with a way to satisfy the remaining subscriptions. i realize we could simply refund the money, but it pains me to do so (not from greed, but as a matter of principle, shame of quitting, pride, et al). if it actually comes down to there not being a printed zine, i would like to brainstorm with you on this. i think there will be plenty more printed zinez and that subscribaz should get them all until their 24 or 25 bucks has been spent on postage (about $1 / issue)
i wouldnt mind doing the issue following the collaboration issue. you got it! and i can select a theme, or whatever and ask people to comply – or at the least to "okay" all the ideas i throw out.. but, that isnt what it is all about. i really enjoy the passing back and forth of ideas, and their evolution. creative collaboration. but, without the strong core we made together – yes. i feel things slipping apart as well. i think you should do a tyght-ass european issue — you could get with special san and dig up some old hits, and throw down that sweet-ass selection in your sketchbook –share it!! those sketches inspired chrisp and i tremendously! it is some of DLa’s best werk and it could do much in advancing everyones ambitions/goals/skillz/ etcz.. do hit!!! nothing you could publish for the next issue could ever compare to those! think about it and dont be stubborne… it is meant to be!
we shall see what the future brings, my friend!! thane again for that sveet sveet box and thoze double-tuffed penz…!!
