News from Wednesday, September 25, 2002 @ 7:53 AM[Osseus] has brought me up to speed, so to speak, on the meeting in Moses Lake. i wont have my comix issues until this weekend, so i wont comment on that bit – [Osseus] did all the covers, so i have yet to see the finished product.
money/business -my suggestion for DLa anarchy wasnt meant to scare anybody (?) – i just thought it was a valid option that eliminated some concerns ($, among other things). i am for having some general rules and guidelines, and maybe we can start with [Osseus]’ list and weed out the undesirable rules or re-word them…? to eliminate any liabilities on our part, not having a business license, we should at least rephrase the SUBSCRIPTIONS so that it says something to the effect, that, when you donate a certain amount of monies (ie – $24) you get copies of DLa for a year… etc.. something something.
[Perish.] – if possible could you change this wording a little bit on your flash page and republish when you get the chance?
this simple change would negate our having to get a business license to sell a product, and keep from provoking the IRS, should they poke around. our bank account isnt big enough to warrant any major taxation concerns, for now – but this would be the next problem, should it ever arise. (i am ignoring the comic shops for now also, due to the fact that we only made $6.50 last year,
and have made nothing this year, to date. you can hardly count that as "selling".)
next issue (mechanical)- i understand you guys are going to stitch up the next one, in a "digest" type format. the size has not been determined yet? but is likely to be a half-letter or third-legal? my only concern is that there wont be enough pages to fatten it up (i am trying to work as much as possible, and [Osseus/SuiLan] are in school now – so at least contributions could be meager from this side. i do have already several chunks from [FCU] for the next issue, and i can pass those off to you or you can contact him). the cover (Nimbus) is going to be card w/ a dust cover – sounds cool. there is plenty of the matte cardstock (11×17) and i have a lot of my own stash of #110 (lightweight) letter size cardstock. if you want to use either of these let me know before end of october and i will pass them off to [Osseus], or to you at the next meeting.
other news – our zine was refused at Elliott Bay Books (lack of space). i will update you on the other stores as soon as i get the comix issues out. this weekend i am meeting with [Osseus] – if you want us to post his photos and a description of how the last books were made, let me know. otherwise we can discuss it next time, unless [Osseus] answered all your questions already!
