\\ I finally have some time to send out emailz and hopefully accomplish a few thingz.
\\ This email is designed to help the Editorz stay focused, informed, and unified in Business.
a) Since there is no Wells Fargo in ML, I will deposit [BHBW]’s check into my personal account and send a check to [Sui Lan].
b) [Sui Lan], are we all paid up for DLA15/FDISK4? If so, then we each will pay for the KomixIssue/DLA16 after its layout and according to how many issues each of us wants, with copies for [BHBW], [Nimbus], [FCU] (see below ) and [Barrel] paid for via existing funds. (If this is not clear, email me.) In other words, if we are all caught up with dues, then the next regular $20 monthly dues will not be due until October (for DLA17/oct&nov).
c) As for contributor fundage, [BHBW] is officially a full-time contributor, contributing $20 per month. thus, he is entitled to the same number of bimonthly DLA copies as the rest of us (ie, two copies per issue). So far, so good. Right? Well we still have [FCU] and [Nimbus] to convince. And, to accomplish this, I will first email [FCU] about contributing. After I hear from him, I will approach [Nimbus] about contributing. More on this as it develops. If it all works out, and everyone (sans [Kalacakra]) is pitching in money on a regular basis, then we will be able to do MORE and/or BETTER Dead Letter Art!! Let’s discuss…
a) [88teeth] is werking on fixing up existing web content.
b) [Osseus] has a new Flash section that NEEDS TO BE UP BEFORE THE END OF AUGUST (or, ASAP!!)!! Before school starts! Let’s go! Whoop! Whoop! Do it, [Osseus]!
c) [Perishable] is currently werking on completing all the text webpages, turning them into something a bit more interesting and complete-looking. Also, going to update the index page to include more "newz".
d) [FCU] wants to add a generalized links page to the site, and should be in touch with each of you relatively soon with the details.
e) I am werking on getting [BHBW] back online and email-capable once again! ha ha.
a) Send all ML copies to [Perishable] and he will distribute them. For the record, for this issue, the breakdown on printing quantity goes like this:

For a TOTAL of 16 issues plus the proof/copyright issue!
So send [Perishable] a total of five issues and the copyright/proof issue. [Osseus], please burn the filez we talked about for FDISKIV onto my SLAVE disc and include it with the FDISK package!
a) Printing quantity:
x + y + z + 4.b) Cover: we each need to do a cover (i will email [Nimbus] about this). We will either choose the best cover as the cover and include the rest in a gallery or we will simply have 4 or 5 different versions of the cover. Plan for full-color cover (ie, kinkos printing), but keep in mind duotone cover ideas (ie, for press printing). Cover will be decorated card-stock with full-color dust cover. So, if we decide to print x amount of each person’s cover, we should agree on the design of the card-stock undercover (if you will). Otherwise, the person whose cover is chosen will design the card-stock undercover.
c) Printing: [88teeth] get Kinkos quotes, etc. [Osseus] get Pro Printing quotes, info, etc. [Perishable] get ML Printing Quotes etc. The deadline for this info is the end of August (when the artwork is due). Mark your calendars!!
d) Deadlinez: The deadline for ALL ARTWERK/KOMIX for the Komix Issue is SATURDAY, AUGUST 31st, at the ELLENSBURG DLA MEETING (see below). We need to figure out who/when/where/etc for the Komix Issue Layout! The deadline for the layout depends on when [Osseus/Sui Lan] begin school and also on when and where we will assemble the issues.
d) Format: Cover as discussed. All B&W contents. Legal Size (except for dustcover). We will decide on paper purchasing, etc during ellensburg meeting.

This gives us roughly 114pp or 28.5 sheets of paper (if so, we will need another half-sheet worth of images). So the Komix issue should be about 58 pages thick (not bad!).
f) Binding: Via DLa Perfect-Bind Technique (to be discussed in Ellensturd).
g) Other: I didn’t forget anything, did I? wtf?
Other details to be considered at Ellensburp meeting.
Will be held on Saturday, August 31st at 12 noon at a location to be announced in Ellensburg, WA. The meeting should last throughout the afternoon (at least) and [BHBW] will be there. And possibly [Nimbus], too. Topics include everything covered in this email plus anything else that your tiny brain can think of. Things that will happen include: transfer of ALL Komix issue content to relevant layout person, etc. Perusal and Voting of Cover Candidates. Preparation for next meeting, printing and assembly of Komix layout, and financial considerations [Sui Lan]. Also, [BHBW] may drink too much, talk nonsense, and pass out. Sounds like fun to me.
I will send spam to all DLa declaring every SATURDAY @ 6:00pm to be an Official DLa Unofficial Art Session that is Informal and Possibly Fun and a Bit Inane. So git reddy!
Let’s face it. A lot has changed since DLa 14 (HM). Hopefully, as things begin to fall into routine, life will be a bit less confusing, busy, and demanding. But, until then, we must hurdle the challenge of keeping DLa alive and growing during these hectic summer months. So please forgive the monstrous email, but I think it is important to have it all down in one place that can even be printed out and neatly referenced and/or spit upon when necessary. With DLa 17 (the next issue, which will be for December and produced during Oct and Nov), we begin anew — Renewing subscriptions, Rethinking Formats, and Getting back to regular bimonthly DLa Publication. In a sense, given each of our new lifestylez, a New DLa Era will begin! These are indeed exciting times.
It has been decided that all layout (until decided otherwise) shall be done with InDesign1. Also, ALL uncommon or unusual fontz used during any layout need to be included in their own folder that stays with that issues digital content. Further, there is (or will be) an Official Online Fontz folder for each issues fontz to be uploaded for future reference (Please do not forget this!). And also online will be an official folder into which each issues publishing notes will be uploaded for future reference.
While you have the time, please contact your brother about setting up a SECURE FTP Submissions Folder and let us know asap. Thank you.
Please take the time to carefully read this information. Add important dates to your calendar. Print out a copy of this email for reference. Mark on it, draw on it, and bring it to the Ellensburg meeting. And, if you really want to be tuff, respond to this email with updates, information, requests, questions, concerns, etc but do so in a different color ink for EASY reading! See what I mean? This really werx best when the new, different-color comments are typed immediately after the topic to which it is addressing. trus me. jes do hit!
