FED UP WITH SOFT WAREs!

last week i removed indesign2 from both computers and re-installed indesign1. life is sweet now. i do not plan on using ID2 ever again. i am contemplating removing PS7 and staying with PS6.01 permanently also (due to only a small annoying error – PS7 doesnt recognize the toolbar windows when i zoom an image to fit the desktop.) with those minor changes i think i can continue to do business into the future (the next couple of years anyhow) without changing the basic structure of my biz. it would be better if we all agreed on the InDesign issue, other softwarez is up to you! (i will make available all of my most recent versions.) i also have flash5/flashMX, macromedia director, 3dsmax4.2. those are available too, but of small concern to business (as of yet). i plan on staying consistent for a while with the (somewhat older) software so i can avoid any further technical issues and focus on my creativity and output.

WEBSITE UPDATES

the web is sort of a mixed bag in general. i dont think it will become any more important to me after school is finished, or more important to anybody else in general. i DO want to wrap up a consistently finished and well done site for people to see, and enjoy, if they do visit. this could be in the form of a template, as [Perish.] has suggested, in which parts can be changed out at whimsy. or, it could be just a well done site that remains the same for a year. my structural preference for the site is this:

• a splash page with links to the artists (that’s us)
• less elaborate display of DLa, more emphasis on us as individual artists.
• DLa links trimmed to: Archive. About.
• artist links: a self-pic or representative artistic image accompanied by brief bio/description on main page.
• all zine stuff (other than archived pdf) will be displayed by the creator on his/her page.
• i see the artists pages being more like complete websites in and of themselves and not just galleries.

if you have other web ideas, spill them out in email and i will read through. it might be helpful to sketch out a picture or develop a mock-up to get your ideas across at the next meeting.
