Here to spook you is another fine DLA update!
We are happening OLD-SKOOL style this issue–ie, LO-TEK: no computers, only
cut-and-paste and kinko’s glasswork! Send your turds hardcopy for best rez,
otherwize we will simply print the digitals and copy from them (almost just
as scary).
With a FAT halloween theme dominating the look and feel of this ish and
“the gravedigger” Kalacakra blessing us with a haunting collage-art cover, we
feel thrown back to the days of old, so feel free to cut-and-paste your way
into busy-er, more eloborately embellished pages: more to read, see, and
feel, and more to trip on! Shtuff everywhere! We want to pack every inch of
every page until they gasp for mercy. So add the crazy phrases! mad
scribblings! favorite media chunks! throw it all in! …toil and
trouble! –and, for the kidz, keep it scary!
We are also encouraging comments of any kind. Serious, funny, stupid–it
just doesnt matter! The point is to add a little voice to each issue. Also,
send artist commentary on any works for which you can possibly think of
something to say–anything interesting or even not interesting. See last
issue for what we have in mind for the general idea.
And. The website galleries are all up! We should all give ourselves a big
hand!! We ([88teeth], actually) are in the process of registering the DLA site
at various search engines so that we might actually get some HITZ! We are
planning on using the site as much as possible to get people into our
publication, so keep adding/updating/improving your web pages!
As if that were not enough, we have already been selling issues from comic
stands here in Seattle and currently have DLA featured in THREE, yes count
them THREE different comic locations around the city (not to mention many ML
issues scattered all around Moses Lake)!!! And the response has been much
better than expected! We plan to continue reaching out with DLA–first washi
ngton and then the world! HA HA HA!!!!!!!!!!
On a personal note, Freakish Carnival Utopia frontman (and posse) will be in Washington for about a week, beginning on Sept 21st. What does this mean? It could very well mean some sort of tribal gathering in ML or some sh!t like that. But who knows what will really happen… he has made it clear that he wishes to see all of us and would like to spend some time cold chilling. More on this as it develops…
Finally, for this month and from now on, ALL SUBMISSIONS DUE by the 15th !!!
Well, that is all for now! Let’s all just have a Ghastly Halloween Season
