News from Monday, May 07, 2001 @ 12:02 PMMarketing Director,
I talked with our Financial Officer yesterday and we walked through the Distilling procedure of VOL3, and found our procedures the same, yet while T's PDF of Vol. 3 came up to be 37MB, mine was around 15. T says that according to some research he has done on Acrobat, Version 4 may have a bug that creates larger than normal files. As I attained my version of Acrobat separately, it apparently is .05 newer than the current version owned by other DLA Publishers.
As noted in the DLA company handbook, article 5, paragraph 3, "All software must be provided to you, or approved by, the Manager of Technology. Do not trust illegal copies given you by third parties."
So, the Manager of Technology will be providing all current DLA Publishers with a new version of Acrobat 4 at Thursday's Tech meeting, a "Print" CD with all new PDFs(to be dropped off for Archival Printing), mini-size screen PDFs for the Web (which we will be uploading at the meeting), and hopefully new archives for DLA Corporate(for you to enjoy and rearrange at your discretion).
I am also planning to create a Manual on the procedure for creating a DLA PDF. This way, if someone finds some new setting that somehow works better, they can submit it to the Manager of Technology for review and he can update the Manual for all, and also so that it will be available for others if by some chance the three of us are unable to be a part of the publishing process some year down the line.
Manager of Technology
